Istanbul Express club on 17th November
Euphoria Borealis ry together with Film and Media Art Festival Lens Politica presents a selection of short films made during the Istanbul Express filmmaking workshop. The screening will be held in Dubrovnik on 17th November 2011 at 7pm, and after the film screening some Turkish traditional music will be played live by the group Trio from Nefes. After the band DJ Börek will play tunes from the East.
In fall 2010, Istanbul Express, a multilingualism-themed filmmaking workshop organized by the international NISI MASA film network brought 45 young European filmmakers to Istanbul from three European cities: Tallinn, San Sebastian and Turin. 15 short films were completed during this journey, out of which Euphoria Borealis ry and Lens Politica will now present ten. The film crews passing through Europe from the north, north-west, and south recorded manifestations of multilingualism and stories about Europe in the 2000s. Language can connect or it can separate; the films discuss the various forms of language, including sign language and graffiti, as well as its effects in a relationship, for instance. Multilingualism is an essential part of the European identity and its history.
